Team Lead Medical Informatics

Institute for AI in Medicine, Germany

Moon studied medicine at the University of Duisburg-Essen, where he developed an early interest in applying computational methods to medical workflows. He went on to train in radiology at Essen University Hospital, where his research on using computer vision techniques in medical imaging diagnostics led him to earn his doctorate with magna cum laude.

Since 2020, he has worked as Team Lead for Medical Informatics at the Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (IKIM). In this role, he is responsible for the design and implementation of an AI infrastructure tailored to the specific requirements of clinical practice. His work focuses on enabling the systematic development, validation, and deployment of AI algorithms, thereby directing their translation from basic research into robust, clinically validated workflows at scale. Through these efforts, he has contributed to establishing the KITE (AI-Translation Essen) infrastructure initiative in which novel AI methods can be integrated at scale into real-world healthcare settings.
