Michael Kamp is the leader of the research group Trustworthy Machine Learning at the Institut für KI in der Medizin (IKIM), located at the Ruhr-University Bochum. Before that, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security, and a postdoctoral research fellow at Monash University, where he is currently an affiliated researcher. He is a machine learning researcher and data scientist who specializes in federated learning and learning theory with more than ten years of experience with large-scale distributed computation and machine learning. His PhD obtained from the University of Bonn focussed on the theory of federated and distributed machine learning in large-scale distributed systems. He has published extensively on federated learning and learning theory, organized 9 international workshops, and is an editorial board member of the Springer ML journal.
