Marie studied General and Comparative Linguistics during her bachelor’s degree before specializing in Computational Linguistics in her master’s program, where she developed a strong interest in natural language processing and its practical applications.
Before joining the Institute for AI in Medicine (IKIM), she focused on combining linguistic theory with computational methods, building technical expertise in language technologies and software development.
At IKIM at the University Hospital Essen, Marie works as a Full Stack Software Engineer. Her work sits at the intersection of NLP research and application development, where she translates research outcomes from the institute into practical tools and web applications used by clinicians and medical researchers.
Her broader goal is to support the clinical translation of AI research by helping transform innovative methods into reliable, usable systems within the medical ecosystem.
